What I’m Doing Now

“Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. Make the NOW the primary focus of your life.”

― Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now

This is my now page – a short summary of where I’m at and what I’m getting up to inspired by Derek Sivers. Last updated on 2 Nov 2022.

Location: Cape Town, South Africa

I’m currently in Cape Town — it’s great to be home.

Health

Earlier this year (March 2022), I underwent spinal surgery to have a cervical disc replacement. I documented my surgery and recovery in this 10-part video series and am glad to say that I’ve made a full recovery.

I bought myself the Apple Watch Ultra on launch day in South Africa to support my more active and adventurous lifestyle. I’m absolutely loving the watch. Here is my unboxing video.

I’ve been focusing heavily on my fitness by exercising multiple times per week. I’ve continued swimming and have added running to my exercise roster. Here is a fun Run Swim Vlog that I recently filmed at Clifton Beaches. So grateful that I get to swim and run in such an amazing city.

I’m currently training for the Torpedo Cape, which is a 16km RunSwim in Cape Town on 20 Nov 2022.

Work & Career

After finishing up a 3.5 year contract in June 2022 in operations management for an online education company, I’ve decided to take some time off to reflect what I want to tackle next and what I want the next 5 – 10 years of my life to look like.

I’m still working part time, but am currently on the lookout for opportunities that are in alignment with my values, lifestyle and goals for the future.

Passions

Travel

I recently got back from an amazing honeymoon trip to Zanzibar, Tanzania with my wife, Lara. This was my first time visiting this beautiful island. We spent two night in Stone Town and 6 nights up north at an all-inclusive resort. I’m in the process of editing videos to publish to my YouTube channel.

Music

I’m very excited that the original members of blink 182 (my all time favourite band) have reunited and have announced a new album and a world tour for 2023/24. My wife got us VIP tickets for the Berlin show for October 2023, which is going to be insanely amazing.

Earlier this year, I bought myself the Mark Hoppus Signature Fender Jaguar Bass, which I’ve completely fallen in love with. It is such a beautiful instrument. Here is an unlisted video of me having some fun playing it.
